Grading:
Weekly Quiz - 30%
Each Mon. we will start class with a short (15
min.) quiz over
material
covered since the last quiz (including lab material).
Group Problems/Questions - 30%
During most classes we will work problems in groups
of no more
than three students.
If you miss that day you can turn in the problems but you lose 10% per
week.
Lab Reports - 20%
We will do about 6 to 8 labs during the semester.
The lab will
be announced
the class before the lab.
A lab report will be due at the beginning of the next
the class
meeting.
The format of the lab report will be discussed prior to each
lab (some
reports will be more formal than others).
Late labs lose points at a rate of 10% per week.
There will be NO lab make ups.
Take Home Final - 20%
A take home final will be handed out the last day
of class
consisting of
questions and problems similar to the ones we will do during the course
of the semester. The final will be due on Monday, May 2 at 5:00 PM.
Grade assignments - the usual 90% to 100% = A, 80% to 89% = B,
etc.
