Topics covered: Check the topics on the main syllabus under each
of the three tests.
-
Time, date, place: 1:00 PM; December 13, 2001; CV106 or PS106
- I will hold a starting a 1:00 on Dec. 11 in PS106 (the lab room).
Hints!?
-
You may bring one sheet of equations to the final.
-
You must show the instructor an empty calculator memory before the test
starts.
-
It's a good idea to go over all the problems we did in class, and examples
in the book.
-
If you did not see it on one of the three tests during the semester but
we covered it in class then it is more likely to show up on the final.
-
We omitted parts of several chapters, especially towards the end of the
semester. You are only responsible for the material we spent class time
on.
-
Expect problems on the following:
-
Adding and subtracting vectors.
-
Kinematics including friction, projectile motion and a little bit of rotational
motion.
-
Newton's laws.
-
The great conservation laws: conservation of energy, momentum and angular
momentum.
-
The molecular theory of temperature and pressure.
-
Archimedes' principle.
-
Waves (the parts of chapters 13 and 14 which we covered in class).
-
Possible bonus questions:
-
alternative energy sources,
-
quality of sound,
-
first and second laws of thermodynamics,
-
heat transfer,Go To: IUS Physics
