202 Test II
Last updated 3/17/98
- Topics covered:
- Current, resistors and circuits (Chapter 17 & 18)
- Magnetism (Chapter 19)
- Induced Voltage (Chapter 20)
- Time, date, place: 5:40PM, March 19th, PS106
Hints!?
- No sheet of equations.
- Constants will be provided.
- You must show the instructor an empty calculator memory before the test starts.
- Any interesting material from these chapters not covered in class is a possible bonus question.
- The test will be mostly word problems with a few concept questions sprinkled into the problems.
- Review the examples in the text and all the problems we did in class. Also the problems in the book with boxes around them (indicating they are worked out in the student manual) are good to practice on. The class day before the test is 'stump the instructor day'; bring any problems you are having trouble with and I'll try to work them on the board. If we don't get to your problem, come by my office.
- You can expect at least one problem on each of the following:
- Both of Kirchoff's rules.
- Resistors in parallel and series.
- Resistivity and temperature variance of resisance.
- Electrical energy and power (household circuits).
- Magnetic force on a moving charge and/or magnetic force on a current carrying wire.
- Magnetic field of a long wire and/or loop of wire and/or solenoid.
- Torque on a current loop.
- Faraday's law and Lenz's law.
