Description:


The simulation shows a compass and two wires. The wires either carry current towards you (out of the screen) or away from you (into the screen). You can drag the compass but the wires are fixed. The strength of the magnetic field is given in the simulation at the mouse location when you hold the mouse button down.

Question 9:

From the direction of the compass needle, make a sketch of the field vectors in the area around the two wires. Describe the differences between this field and the field for two bar magnets in the previous simulation.

Question 10:

Based on the right hand rule and the direction of the field vectors you just drew, which direction does the current flow in each of the wires?

Question 11:

Which wire has more current flowing in it? Explain how you figured this out.
