Some pedagogical requirements for using technology.
- Transparency:
- The technology should not distract from the content. If it is more easily done with paper or some other way then don't do it with technology.
- Low learning curve for students:
- Students should not have to spend a great deal of effort or time learning the technology.
- Low learning curve for faculty:
- Faculty should not have to spend a great deal of effort or time fiddling with the technology.
- Interactivity:
- Learning is a social
activity! Students have to get feedback, interact with and be able to control the
material. Otherwise you may as well write a book!
- Relevancy:
- Do you really need to do it at all? Sure it looks cool but would you be better off spending your time on something else?
- Efficacy:
- Assess the effectiveness of the technology. If something else works better then use it.
